Sport Activities In Preschool Setting: Benefits for Social and Emotional Well-Being of Children

Social and emotional skills can be promoted using a wide variety of activities, namely through sports activities. Montessori IQ Corner Preschool from Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzgovina, shares their experience and good practices

It is well known that sports activities have physical benefits but parents often do not think about sports activities for children as activities that can also affect their emotional and social well-being.

Parents should encourage their kids to participate in sports as well as preschool institution need to provide specific sport activities to children. Through sport activities children present better adaptation to preschool routines, reduce stress and anxiety in adaptation period, and improve social skills with peers. Participation in sports influences positively the overall health of a child, helping them to improve their mood and channeling their emotions, improve self-perception, boost confidence, and have long-term benefit of prevention for depression, anxiety and addiction.

Private preschool institution “Montessori IQ Corner” provide organized sport activities with certified sport trainer everyday with duration of 45-60 minutes. Sport activities are organized for children up to 2 years old, and include lot of outdoor and indoor activities as well as sport games and competition outside of the institutions.
