The contemporary research validates the effectiveness of the Montessori methodology and their benefits for children development. One of the key goal of Montessori education include make a children growing into capable people who will be have a strong sense of self, the ability to connect with others, and the potential to be productive throughout their lives. Montessori education has specific prepared environment, tangible materials and methodology of learning to presenting content of real world. Although Montessori education is based on the comprehensive development of a child's personality (including social and emotional skills), sometimes it is necessary to design and implement additional activities with the aim of adopting positive and peaceful behavior in classroom.
Previous study present results which demonstrated that Montessori education positively affects social and emotional competency and behavior of 4–5-years-old children. Furthermore, parents and teachers stated that Montessori education resulted in positive changes in positive behavior of the children in their social development.
Peace education is an important part of Montessori education. In Montessori kindergarten children can found Peace table for conflict resolution, different type of specific tray about peace and participate in peace game every day. These activities can be introduce as a routines in kindergarten and sometimes teachers need to implement new or adopt peace activities with a goal of repeating meaning and importance of inner peace and peace behavior in classroom.
PEACE WORD LEARNING
This activity we can used when we want to introduce children to Peace activities and meaning of the word of “Peace”. This lesson teacher can be planned for recognition of International Peace Day or in other lessons such as learning about different cultures, meditation, zen etc.
The materials include a set of cards with the word, 'Peace' in various languages. Children who will use this activity need to be sensitive for language learning. Teacher present these materials only to one child. Before presentation, teacher talk with children about peace and what word “Peace” exactly mean. Teacher present word “Peace” on different language by big cards and take them on mat. After that, teacher match small cards with big cards of word “Peace”. After presentation of teacher, child repeat this activity as many times as it wants.
